Cremants from Alsace and Burgundy The grace and elegance of the vintage – La Revue des Vins de France
In its edition of May 2019, La Revue des Vins de France has chosen to highlight the Cremants of Alsace and Burgundy. A tasting where 278 Alsatian Crémants and some 99 Burgundy Crémants met, each winery having the right to present a maximum of three cuvées. Nice surprise since our three Cremants of Alsace organic had a nice rating (between 16/20 and 17,5 / 20), which allowed the highlighting of the winery within the heading “Grace and elegance” vintage wines ”
“Family and organic bubbles that will bluff you” – Julien, Dominique and Thiebaud Frey, a sparkling trio.
“At Frey’s family, organic Crémant d’Alsace have been produced since 2003. Planted between hills and slopes, the 14 hectares of the estate, certified organic in 1996 and biodynamic in 2004, provide Julien (vintage 1985) and his youngest Thiébaud (vintage 1996) the grapes for the crémants that they elaborate in the enclosure of their “bioclimatic” cellar built in 2010. The two brothers raise their base wines resulting from the pinot noir, Riesling and Auxerrois grape varieties by marrying stainless and old tanks Family thunders: Every year, they sell their wines on slats between 24 and 60 months, and the result is really bluffing. ” Crémant d’Alsace Extra brut 2016 – 17,5 / 20: We love its explosive nose with sandalwood and resada notes, its root and upright character. In the mouth, it distils a flavor that evokes the sap of lime. An organic Crémant d’Alsace with a perfectly worked and self-sufficient bubble. Crémant d’Alsace Brut Nature 2016 – 16/20: Its straw-colored dress is appealing, as is its fragrance with notes of pineapple and well-integrated oak. The mouth is sharp and slender. a very seductive personality. Crémant d’Alsace Quintessence 2013 – 16/20: Driven by a dry extract (12 months aging in barrels and slatted for 36 months), its effervescence is pleasant today. To keep in cellar.
